Thoughts and reflections – April 2016
Global Environment Update
Russian giant Gazprom has shipped the world's first offshore artic oil into europe. Greenpeace activists were there to protest along with thousands of others. It is show of corporate greed and shows how far these companies will go in there quest for black gold. Also the amazonian rainforest is being endlessly plundered with no conscience, much of the illegally obtained hardwood is used as garden decking and deforestation rose by 28% last year. Land is also converted to enormous farms and fires create this space.
Thoughts and Reflections – Nature
It's been a tough year with the loss of my mum and recently my grandma. It puts everything into perspective and to quote from the great Pearl Jam song, 'Sirens' , "it's a fragile thing this life that we lead", sums it up for me at the moment. It's hard to understand this world during such times, you have to dig deep and find some purpose to go forward. I've been walking in the mountains and getting lost in the wild, it's soothing for the soul and enables my thought processes to settle.
Nature
- Feel the thoughtless wind blow
- the angels of heaven gather around
- in bird song of harmony
- in the intuitive instinct of love
- butterflies travel with wings of a kaleidoscope dream
- bees travel from flower to flower way down stream
- the spring arrives into the summer flowering meadow
- the autumn catches the breeze
- of the wintering red wing
- the circle never stopes turning
- the planet alive and one
- to be connected
- but feeling ejected
- 93 million miles from the sun
- so when you take a walk under the blanket of blue
- remember everything alive is there for you
- from the worm to the hive
- to the tree and butterfly
- its a spectacle to see
- it's precious and forever flying free...........
Thoughts and Reflections 2013
Recently Greenpeace protesters aboard their ship artic sunrise were detained in Russia on ludicrous charges of piracy following a peaceful protest against oil drilling in the Russian artic. They were making a stand against exploitation of the artic, where companies such as Gazprom want to drill for oil, which is at the same time warming our world. What does this mean in the 21st century, what about future generations, will the act of protest be banned altogether.
Thoughts and Reflections Into The Wild
Just finished reading, 'Into the Wild' by Jon Krakauer, a deeply moving book about a young man called Chris McCandless who walked alone into the alaskan wilderness, later made into a great film. It got me thinking about the reason why were here, I've never gone on a solo soul searching journey, but Ive spent many times walking alone next to the sea or in the welsh mountains. I have a deep empathy for nature and it's magical mysteries. If you spend time with nature , it can teach us many lessons.
Thoughts and Reflections on the Weather
Just had a heat wave in the UK, the weathers definately changing. With the geographical battle in the artic it's a crucial time to say no more. The oil will eventually run out and alternatives will have to be found, so nows the time to start. The deline in certain bird species is alarming, particularly the migrants such as the turtle dove. The swifts and swallows here however have had a successful year which is encouraging. On other subjects, albums I recommend this year include Willie Nile - american ride and alice in chains - the devil put dinosaurs here. Still working on my new songs and it's sounding good, will be putting a new song up soon. Don't believe the lies and remember this beautiful planet is worth saving.
Summer Poem 2
- Swallows and swifts
- circle in the summer sky
- butterflies open their wings
- and fly, so high
- the sun looks down
- as shadows fall outside
- the moon awaits
- for the thoughts inside
- round and round the circle goes
- the green trees are alive
- nature has no religon
- for the bees always find their hive
- since the creation of life
- the invisible delusion of time
- a big bang erupts
- making a mistake in humankind
- no blame on nature
- for the summer is their time
- man made wars
- a conscious war inside
- summer, summer let it breathe today
- for the cycle is here to stay
- whatever we do, whatever we say
- it evaporates in time
- in this game we play
- let the sun shine
- 93 million miles away
- part of a galaxy
- a universe miles away
- summer sun
- no need to worship today
- summer sun
- thankyou today
A Poem – ‘Seasons’
- Four seasons
- a cycle of re-birth
- from spring to winter
- the changing earth
- from swallows to swifts
- the ancient word
- unspoken and unheard
- orbiting to comply and then to serve
- the spaces inbetween
- the dial turns
- to a sunrise where the blackbird sings
- to where the falcon hovers in the sky
- the violet blossoms, the chorus sings
- the god of nature will always fly
- the cuckoo will call, the battle is on
- to save what we can before it is gone
- the polar bear, the whale, the whole cycle of life
- the innocence of nature, the dark and the light
- stand tall we must resist the change
- for love is the anwser, love will remain.
