We all enjoy a walk in the countryside, enjoying the sights and sounds nature has to offer. But with the increasing change in climate nature needs a friend, as it can not stand up and say no, it is a crucial time in the planets history. The climate change meeting at Copenhagen in december will try and address these issues and find solutions in reducing the impacts of climate change.
Russian giant Gazprom has shipped the world’s first offshore artic oil into europe. Greenpeace activists were there to protest along with thousands of others. It is show of corporate greed and shows how far these companies will go in there quest for black gold. Also the amazonian rainforest is being endlessly plundered with no conscience, much of the illegally obtained hardwood is used as garden decking and deforestation rose by 28% last year. Land is also converted to enormous farms and fires create this space.
I’ve been a member of greenpeace for many years and must thank them for keeping me updated on the environmental troubles in the world. I chat to many people, particularly about global warming and can’t believe how many people are in denial. If its not affecting them directly they just deny the truth and facts produced each year by charities such as greenpeace.
